WPHA News, Links & How Tos

Woodland Park Hockey Association

The Woodland Park Hockey Association is a local nonprofit organization that formed in 2009 to promote youth hockey in Teller County and throughout the Pikes Peak region. We are a 100% volunteer organization that partners with the City of Woodland Park and local indoor ice arenas to provide unique year-round hockey programs for the surrounding communities.

We strive to include every interested player possible, and through fundraising and community sponsorships, WPHA offers the most affordable USA Hockey affiliated hockey experience in the surrounding area with certified coaches, competitive fees and comparable programming.  Go Panthers!

10,000 Shooter Club

WPHA is encouraging all players to participate in the inaugural 10,000 Shooter Club challenge, with the goal to encourage our hockey players to develop great shooting skills as well as recognize the commitment it takes in the sport of hockey.

Increase shot speed, quickness and accuracy.

The challenge will start on Sunday, May 14 and end on Saturday, September 9. Players must shoot a total of 10,000 pucks over this time period, which averages out to about 80 shots per day or 560 shots per week. Shots must be documented on the WPHA 10,000 Shot tracker sheet (click link). Goalies are encouraged to use their goalie stick and goalie gloves as much as practical for their age and ability, but not required.

Mites who would like to participate (2015 and younger birth years) may participate and only need to do a 5,000 puck challenge.

Each participant, achieving 10,000 shots (or 5,000 for our Mites), will receive a 10,000 Shots Club t-shirt.

Other various prizes may be added as we get this program started including a prize for the shooter with the most shots.

MeadowWood Rink Status

Meadow Wood Ice Rink will be receiving new boards and glass this year! Thank you for the city and community support during this time of repair and construction. We will post updates as we receive them.
