ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS
CALL FOR CANDIDATES
The hockey season is now well underway. Most of the teams are getting into the swing of the season and there are many weeks of good hockey yet to be played.
However, WPHA holds our annual membership meeting and elections in March each year, right as the season is ending. This allows our familes to comment and provide input while the season events are fresh in their mind and before moving on to other spring sports. The Board of Directors is required by our by-laws (posted on our website) to announce the candidates for election / re-election and any business the board wants membership to approve.
Our ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING is WEDNESDAY MARCH 7TH 6:30 PM at the Woodland Park Library downstairs meeting room. This year the following Board of Directors positions need members to serve and fill and are open for candidates to nominate themselves, as long as they are in good standing with the association.
President: This position will be open with two years on the term
Vice-President of Operations /Registrar: Rob Hunt is seeking another two year term
Vice-President Scheduling: This positon will be open with two years on the term
Vice-President of Youth Hockey/ Director: This position will be open with one year remaining on the term
Vice-President Adult Hockey: This position will be open with two years on the term
Vice-President Fundraising Director: Gina Taranto is seeking another two year term
Vice-President Events Coordinator: Positon will be open with one year on the term
This announcement is to solicit candidates – This is a CALL FOR CANDIDATES – an appeal for volunteers to consider serving on the WPHA Board of Directors for a two year term or serve a remaining year in the positions being vacated.
This is a tremendous opportunity to contribute to the community and further advance the goals of the hockey association. The Board of Directors is, among other things, responsible for the overall Association program, the job descriptions, and the policies and procedures of the Association. All WPHA Officers are volunteers, and agree to serve without compensation of any kind from WPHA. Board members meet once each month throughout the year. Of course, during the weeks leading up to the hockey season more time is needed as we prepare for the season. If you think you want to help our youth play hockey and grow the hockey program- consider volunteering. Nominations and candidates for office will be annnounced 30 days prior to the March 7th elections through e-mail and website. Roy Venegas, the winner of the signed Tim Thomas jersey! HUGE thanks to everyone who sold and bought raffle tickets. The proceeds from the raffle are being used to get a scoreboard for our rink. Stay tuned for information on our next raffle, which will include not only another signed Tim Thomas jersey, but also a signed Joe Sakic jersey and a jersey signed by the nationally-ranked Colorado College Tiger hockey team!!

This Year space is available to Advertise on the Hockey Rink Boards
Your company will enjoy the maximum amount of visibility here at rink side. The rink is brightly lit, as are the advertising messages that surround the skating area. The advertising area of each rink board is 3'x8', a total of 24 square feet of space highlighting your business or organization.
Advertise space available on Zamboni Sides
The zamboni is the machine used to resurface the ice before and after hockey games and other on ice activities. The zamboni attracts attention each time it appears, and since there is just one, the opportunity is extremely limited. You can take advantage of it to vividly display your company name, logo, product or service. A zamboni decal is produced using a high quality digital process. Sponsorship/Donations
This year you have the opportunity to join a proven winner. As a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization, we are seeking sponsorship/donations from various businesses in our communities. This assistance is in the form of tax deductible donations.
The Woodland Park Hockey Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of amateur hockey for Woodland Park and the greater Teller County area. WPHA is working in conjunction with the City of Woodland Park Parks and Recreation Department to further develop the hockey programs and ice rink at Meadow Wood Sports Complex.
WPHA is seeking donations for our short and long-term goals as well as funds required to keep our program moving forward. We understand that some businesses cannot give cash donations so we are planning future fundraiser's and will post these events on our web site as they become available. WPHA would welcome donated goods or services which can be raffled or auctioned to benefit our cause.
